Many people show off their car but when the car is dirty then it is difficult to proud and such pride is really short-lived as the paintwork becomes stained with oil marks and dust or scratched. Aging of paint is a natural process that makes your car dull. So, it’s important to make your car clean also to make sure the long life of your paintwork. So they are two methods to give your car shine, you can use car wax or car polish. Many people are unaware of the meaning of the two. In terms of knowledge, there is a huge difference between the two when it comes to automobile paint and protection.

Car Polish v/s Car Wax

Car polish is like a nail polish that is really left behind the protective layer on the nail. Car wax does the same thing, it leaves the protective layer of wax on the car.  To aid its protective abilities, most of the waxes now come with UV inhibitors that can protect the paint from the sun’s rays.

Where a car polish on the other hand use to remove minor scratches and swirl marks from the car’s surface. Polishing is used when paint of the car is dimmed or lost. Frequently polishing is not recommended since its abrasive properties damage the surface of the car’s bodywork.

When to use which product?

Before deciding between car polishing and wax your car, firstly wash your car thoroughly and make it dry. Then lightly run your fingers over paint and feel the rough spots. If the surface is smooth you need to apply wax and after wipe out if you feel little bumps or irregularities, the defect is below the surface and the car needs to be polished before you can apply any wax on it.

Pros and cons

If you used too often polish can eventually scrape off the clear-coat, in such case cars need to be repainted.  However, some polishes contain mild abrasive blends that do little damage. The advantage of polish is that it will shine a little longer. If Wax applied often then it can actually get melt if it gets hot, particularly on the roof surfaces which exposed to the sun.

Conclusion

So it is difficult to answer which one is better either polish wax or Polish because everything is there own pros and cons. While one works best with the other while polishing does the overall maintenance by removing aged paint, restoring depth or removing the defective appearance on the other hand wax adds the shine to the car.
